Responsibilities:
- Execute a Maintenance Management System for the Plant and Equipment as required
- Execute a Safety Health and Environment system in accordance with ISO18001 and ISO14001and ensure certification as require
- Assist in preparing the normal and abnormal maintenance budget for the Department
- Assist in preparing and managing the Capital budget for company
- Delegate responsibility to the Mechanical and Electrical Foreman to carry out the maintenance function (Planned and breakdown) on all plant and equipment.
- Monitor the engineering function by means of meetings, reports, costs and outage through maintenance work.
- Advises Foreman on particular problems, both technically and cost wise as necessary.
- Project initiation and implementation for both existing plant and for new plants and processes.
- Implement corrective and preventative actions that could affect product quality
- Commissioning of new plants after installation.
- Managing supply contracts of equipment and supervision of best practise installation by contractors.
- Recommend and carry out plant modifications to improve processes and equipment performance
- Liaises with the Engineer to offer advice on Plant and Machinery modification and purchase of new equipment.
- Assist in Controlling the abnormal maintenance expenditure as per approved budgets and advise Managing Director of progress of expenditure.
- Planning of shutdown work and execution thereof
- Ensuring subordinates are adequately trained for their jobs
- Preparing and executing a planned job observation program for the department
- Preparing and executing a training program for the department.
