Qualifications & Skill & Competencies
? Relevant qualifications. ? Preferably served a detailing apprenticeship at a Structural Steel Fabricator. ? Be computer literate in the use of either one of the following packages AutoCAD for 2D detailing but preferably 3D modelling packages such as Stru-Cad and/ or X-Steel. ? Be fully conversant with the use of weld symbols in accordance with SANS 044 Part 2 ? Be fully conversant with the requirement of SANS 011-Part1:1990 Engineering Drawing General Principles. ? Be fully conversant with the requirement of SANS 2001-CS1:2005 Construction works Part CS1: Structural Steelwork. Some key responsibilities will include inter alia the following:
? Prepare material lists from drawings and summaries for proprietary bought out materials. ? Prepare drawings for proprietary items such as open grid flooring and tubular hand railing. ? Prepare detail drawings to industry standards as laid down in the ?SAISC Structural Steelwork Detailing Manual?. ? Be able to interpret Engineer?s design calculations for the purpose of extracting the necessary information for the design of end connections. ? Be able to design connections/splices in tensions and compression members As well as members subject to bending by fulfilling the requirement of SANS 10162-1:2005.
