Duties

Cashbook/Bank

  • Process cashbook on a daily basis (Rand and USD)
  • Reconcile cashbook on a daily basis to bank statements (Rand and USD)
  • Process inter-bank transfers
  • Allocate transactions to respective creditors and debtors invoices

 

Petty Cash

  • Process transactions on a daily basis (Rand and USD)
  • Reconcile petty cash on a daily basis (Rand and USD)
  • Process transfers between Rand and USD petty cashbook
  • Supervise and sign off on petty cash counts
  • Reconcile petty cashbooks with cash-ups and follow up on deviations

 

Creditors

  • Liaise and maintain sound relationship with suppliers
  • Obtain invoices and statements from suppliers directly 
  • Inspect documents to ensure that they are valid
  • Process supplier invoices 
  • Designed and implemented sound controls (Reconciliation documents, authorization processes, requisitions, isolation of responsibility etc)
  • Performed monthly creditor reconciliations and follow up on anything outstanding or concerning issues
  • Prepare payment requisitions supported with reconciliation and remittance advice to be paid timeously
  • Process ad-hoc transactions and prepare requisitions for timeous payment
  • Review and analyse ageing analysis
  • Maintain accounts 

 

Fixed Asset Register

  • Maintain and control fixed asset register
  • Record acquisitions, disposals, impairments, amortisation and depreciation
  • Prepare journal entries for above-mentioned movements on a monthly basis and post upon authorisation

 

General Ledger

  • Prepare necessary adjusting journals and post upon authorisation
  • Print and file away all journals posted with supporting documentation
  • Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations for month-end

 

Inter-Company Transactions

  • Maintain inter-company loans
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of loans and investigate on any deviations
  • Prepare journals to account for any inter-company transactions

 

Year-end

  • Perform general ledger reconciliations 
  • Ensure all suppliers are paid in full by year end
  • Prepare annual financial statements and the notes to financial statements in accordance with IFRS and IAS.
  • Prepare the audit file 
  • Collate records of asset purchases to calculate depreciation to post necessary journals
  • Review all accounts to confirm that all amounts are correct and that all transactions are reflected
  • Review ageing and clear up any differences

 

General

  • Prepare monthly management accounts
  • Monthly cash flow forecasting
  • Designed and implemented Notes to the Financial Statements in accordance with IFRS and IAS.
