Permanent - EMT Field Service Technician - Kathu - South Africa

Role Summary

• Reporting to the Technical Support Manager, the technician performs tasks in the electrical and mechanical field including Maintenance, Servicing, Component change out, Repairs, Rebuilds and Troubleshooting on company related Earthmoving equipment.

Accountabilities / Key

Performance Areas

• Facilitates efficient technical, engineering and after-sales service to customers. - Diagnoses, overhauls, repairs, tunes, maintains and service diesel powered Earthmoving equipment and machinery in the field as well as in the workshop. - Prepares and submits detailed field reports. - Maintain professional customer relationship

Primary Responsibilities (but not limited to)

• Detects electrical and mechanical faults by using specialized tooling and equipment. 
• Repairs and maintains electrical, hydraulic and mechanical components and systems of diesel-powered equipment including attachments. 
• Follows work assignments received in the form of general oral or written work instructions 
• Determines the extent of the needed repair and determines the nature thereof and implement 
• Perform checks and services on a regular basis and detects possible faults and flaws on affected equipment 
• Repairs and/or replaces and fit new sections or new parts. 
• Improvises necessary solutions as and when needed. 
• Travels from one site to another often in remote areas and at unusual work hours. 
• Works with specialized equipment in order to perform daily duty requirement. 
• Maintains a good level of physical health and fitness. 
• Maintains a legal vehicle driver’s license at all times. 
• Adheres to all health and safety legislation.

Grade 12/NQF 4
Must be a trade tested Auto Electrician / Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic
4-5 years’ experience post apprenticeship

Job-related Skills

• Auto electrical experience on Earthmoving equipment + 5 years
• Earth moving mechanical experience + 5 years
• Worked as a Field service technician.
• Maintaining punctual and high-quality paperwork / reports
• Analytical and problem solver
• Safety and Security 

Computer Skills

• MS Office – Proficiency in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Engine software interface experience
