Key Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible to fulfil the following functions:
  • All administrative functions such as scanning, filing and archiving of physical records and storing of digital records;
  • Ensuring that all required internal inspections, checklists and documentation are submitted to the SHE Department timeously, and appropriate action is taken;
  • Reviewing all submitted internal inspections, checklists and documentation for accurate recording of information and ensuring that any defects have been reported to the relevant departme (s);
  • Following up on outstanding instructions, tasks and investigations;
  • Maintaining of various internal registers and record tracking systems;
  • Ensuring that all communications and internal training documents are issued and returned timeously;
  • Registering claims and administrating document submissions in terms of Injury on Duty claims and following up on existing Injury on Duty claims with external parties;
  • Assisting the SHEQ Manager with audit and inspection preparation, assisting during audits and inspections and establishing Corrective Action Plans, when necessary, and submission of required documentation to auditors and inspectors;
  • Effectively controlling of the PPE and First Aid store and ensuring that minimum stock levels are maintained;
  • Scheduling for on-site clinic consultations, booking and following up on weekly Medical Fitness surveillance and recording the results of surveillance in internal registers;
  • Any other ad-hoc duties in furtherance of the goals of the Company and the SHEQ Department;

Qualifications, experience, skills and other requirements:
The successful delegate should possess the following qualifications, experience, skills or otherwise meet the following criteria:


At least 3 years administrative experience

  • Valid code B driver’s license;
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft office suite of software, with Outlook, Word and Excel being essential;
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English;
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while maintaining strict deadlines;
  • Ability to independently carry out functions and instructions;
  • Willingness to work overtime, if required;
  • Good organizational and administrative practices;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Out-of-the-box thinker who is able to identify areas for improvement in existing systems;
  • Self-motivated, hands-on individual with a “can-do” attitude;
  • Good interpersonal skills within a team context;


  • Experience in Health and Safety and/or Environmental management context;
  • Experience in steel and engineering environment;
  • Own, reliable transport;
  • Ability to communicate in at least one African language;
